Recently I read a short interesting article in Gourmet-Report about New Forest  and Hampshire. We have great memories of our vacation in South of England last May, so I decided to take time and read through our South of England articles on this blog. Doing this I was really missing some major information. And then I realized that I forgot to write about several (!) restaurant visits during this trip! Hard to believe but I will do my best to make up leeway as soon as possible.

I would like to start with The Terrace Restaurant at Talland Bay Hotel in Polperro, Cornwall. Having a look on the homepage I was really surprised because some things look different than they had done during our visit. The rooms are now maritime, the bar looks like a bar and not like a mixture of living room and library and the pool as well as a part of the gorgeous garden have been replaced by a pebble place with tables and chairs. It is different but altogether the reconstruction done by new owners looks good.

I was really very happy to read in the internet reviews that the wonderful food there is still the same. And the food was really, really fantastic! We even made a reservation for a second dinner within four days on the evening of our first dinner because we were so highly pleased. Have we ever done this before? I don’t think so … :)

The fish and seafood comes from the harbour in the neighbouring Looe, meat and vegetables are from local farms and bread as well as pasta is homemade. Quality is about the limit, presentation is beautiful and light and also taste keeps up with this. Even a year after I can smell and taste the salad from local crabs with granny smith and smoked oil dressing!

So if you ever plan to visit this wonderful area, please stop here and enjoy absolute great food and this nice place.
