Catching up with the missing restaurant reports of our vacation in England last May brought up some other big news.
We have been very surprised to see that the Talland Bay Hotel looks very different after renovation by new owners. Now we noticed that Nathan Outlaw moved his restaurant to Rock, about 40 km to the west of Fowey, where we had the pleasure to enjoy a wonderful lunch.
Luckily it was a very sunny day so the staff was so kind to serve the aperitif and the amuse-bouche on the terrace where we had a marvellous view. To take lunch we went inside due to the strong breeze.
You can choose between 2 or 3 courses in the Lunch menu and for each course you have a selection of three meals. My hubby went for the pork belly, a very popular dish in this region but here it had a fantastic taste and texture. I really liked my cured salmon accompanied by a light garlic foam too.
For main course we enjoyed lamb, young garlic, thyme and roasted onion as well as cod with potted shrimp sauce and broad beans.
Very often I opt for cheese instead of a dessert but I am not always so satisfied with my decision as I was here. I was very delighted to get seven different types of English cheese including a short informative explanation for each one. And I have to say that English cheese is at least as good as the famous French or Italian.
I was very happy with my cheese so was my hubby with the dessert and petits fours.
